Refund policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

If something we sold you is faulty, not as described or not delivered, you get a refund or a fix. If you changed your mind, we are not required to refund you, but we will be fair about it. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply on top of everything below and nothing here reduces them.

1. Premium resources

A premium resource is a digital product delivered immediately after payment. Because you can open the whole thing straight away, we do not offer refunds for change of mind, for buying the wrong resource, or because you did not use it. Check the "What is inside" and "Who it is for" sections on each resource page before you buy, and check the bundles listed there so you do not buy something twice.

You are entitled to a refund, or a fix, if the resource:

  • does not match its description on the resource page
  • has errors that make a significant part of it unusable
  • will not open, and we cannot fix that for you within a reasonable time
  • is withdrawn from the site while you still have an account

For a minor problem, such as a typo or one wrong answer, we will correct the resource; tell us and we will fix it, usually within a few days. For a major problem, you choose between a corrected copy and a full refund.

If you bought a resource by mistake and have not opened it, email us within 7 days and we will refund it as a goodwill gesture. Once a resource has been opened, this does not apply.

2. 1:1 tutoring sessions

SituationWhat happens
You cancel or reschedule more than 24 hours before the sessionNo charge. Any payment already made is refunded or moved to the new time, your choice
You cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or do not attendCharged in full. No refund
The student is unwell and you tell us before the sessionRescheduled once at no charge
We cancel, for any reasonAnother time or a full refund, your choice
A technical problem on our side stops an online sessionLost time made up, or the session refunded if we cannot make it up
A technical problem on your side stops an online sessionCharged. We will help where we reasonably can
The session was not delivered with due care and skillRefund of that session, or a replacement session, your choice

A session that has been delivered as booked is not refundable because the student found it hard, did not do the follow-up work, or did not get the result they hoped for in a later exam.

3. Group tutoring

Refund and cancellation terms for a group are set out on its quote, because every group is different. Unless the quote says otherwise: sessions cancelled by the group with less than 48 hours' notice are charged in full; sessions we cancel are rescheduled or refunded; and a deposit, if one was taken, is refundable only if we cancel.

4. How to ask for a refund

Email info@tangenttuition.com with:

  • the email address you paid with
  • what you bought or booked, and when
  • what went wrong

We will reply within 3 business days. Refunds we agree to are paid to the card you used, through Stripe, within 5 business days of our reply. Stripe and your bank may take a further 5 to 10 business days to show it in your account. We do not charge a fee to process a refund.

If you think we have got it wrong, say so and we will look again. If we still disagree, you can contact the Queensland Office of Fair Trading at qld.gov.au/fairtrading or on 13 QGOV (13 74 68), or take the matter to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

5. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

For digital products, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to have minor failures fixed within a reasonable time.

The ACCC explains these rights at accc.gov.au.
